Salute to Coach Sawyer

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Head Football Coach Tom Sawyer following the conclusion of the upcoming 2021 football season.

As you know, Tom has been the anchor of Winona State football for more than a quarter of a century and has built one of the winningest and most respected programs in all of college football. Now it’s time to salute Coach Sawyer as one of the greatest football coaches of all time.

With that in mind, the WSU Football Players Association (FPA) is proud to announce the Salute to Coach Sawyer Warrior Football Weekend on homecoming weekend October 7th-9th.

If you were ever a player, coach, teammate, classmate, or co-worker of Coach Sawyer or if you are a current family member, friend or associate of Coach Sawyer we want you to be a part of this 3-day Coach Sawyer football celebration.

The FPA has secured a block of 250 rooms for this event but only for a limited time. If you really understand how many people will be attending this event, you will book a room now as the hotel rooms in Winona will disappear quickly.  You can call the Riverport Inn or any of the other hotels listed below and ask for a room from the WSU Football Players Association (FPA).
